November 16, 2017 The White County Democratic Party and the 9th District Democratic Women’s Network presented a public forum addressing the complicated problem of the current crisis of widespread opioid abuse and the remedies.
The forum featured presentations by representatives from law enforcement, Neal Wallace, Sheriff of White County and Mitchell Posey, DEA agent in charge of the Appalachian Regional office. Laura Colbert, Executive Director for the non-profit lobby group, Georgians for a Healthy future and Chelsey Hogan of the Chastain Insurance Agency gave presentations on the intricacies of funding of treatment.
Josh McCall, Democratic candidate for Georgia’s ninth District Congressional seat spoke on legal issues and potential legislative requirements. Russ Mobley, Chair of White County Democratic Party Health Committee reported his research on the current status of available medical treatment for addictive disord.
An active discussion period was moderated by Richard Krise, Chairman of the White County Georgia Democratic Party.
